What creates an energy block

The term “energy block” gets thrown around various ways.  You might even use it yourself when you are trying to get beyond an issue in your life, when you have lost motivation, or when you notice a unhealthy repetitious pattern somewhere in your life.  So what is it that creates this feeling of being blocked?

One of the most common ways energy becomes blocked is when you or somebody else, have not allowed you to express your emotions.  When  you don’t allow yourself to feel your true feelings, they don’t just go away.  Your emotional energy  turns inward and is held within you, sometimes for very long periods of time.

Think about this for a moment.  When you feel an emotion, what happens?  You experience a movement or shift in your inner state as well as in your body.  As you experience this emotion there is a rush of energy that moves through you. E-motion = energy in motion.

Image this emotional energy moving through you as though it’s a river that is flowing after the snow melts in the mountains.  If you allow all that snow to melt ( all of your feelings to be expressed), the river eventually slows down, or even runs dry; it naturally dissipates.

What would happen if you dammed that river up?  You would stop the healthy, natural momentum of that water.  The river would become backed up, eventually pooling and turning into stagnant water.  It would get stuck!  If this water continued to sit in this pool it may seep down into the earth, unseen but still there.

This river is a metaphor for any surge of heavy energy within you, such as grief, anger or fear.  If you have limited the expression of your true feelings, then you have probably created an “energy block” within you.  If that heavy energy goes unexpressed, it will become stagnant and toxic.  Eventually, this stuck energy can show up on a physical level.  Just as the pool of water sinks into the earth, so can unexpressed emotion sink into your body.

Another way that blocked energy is expressed is through imbalanced instinctual behaviors, such as eating, sleeping, breathing and sexual disorders.  It can also show up  as addictions,  misdirected anger, depression, anxiety, chronic pain and dis-ease.  Ultimately, all of these issues are symptoms of unhealthy, unexpressed energy.  These “dammed”  rivers of energy need to be released in order to allow your natural healthy life force to flow.

All emotions are okay as long as they are allowed to flow and are expressed in a safe and healthy way.  When you stop this flow, you interrupt your energy systems natural balance.

Energy Healing is the work of releasing these “dams” within you, allowing these toxic energy systems to discharge from your system.  Once they are released you naturally come into balance.  Habits, issues and problems dissolve.  You return your heart and you are able to “flow” with life once again.
